if we don't give up
I think it is fair to say that most people tend to put themselves second to those they love. It is not necessarily a bad thing, but do you find yourself so worried about others that you neglect to take care of yourself? Do you forget what dreams you once had or goals you want to achieve?
I have been on that roller coaster many times before. This time around, I have decided that I can be a great wife, mom, daughter and friend and still go after my own goals and dreams. I know there are so many who do this everyday. What I don't understand is why I had the idea to tackle so many goals at once!
My goals are not unique - probably the same goals you have had at one point or another. I am tackling financial goals, weight-loss hopes and dreams, and personal aspirations such as becoming an author and musician. In addition, every day I strive to become a better wife and parent to my three children. For me, that looks like less yelling and more patience.
I have even deeper emotional and spiritual goals - wanting to become a "better Christian," worrying less about what others think of me, and the most dreaded goal, mastering the art of forgiveness.
At the beginning of the year, my women's small group had an activity during our monthly meeting where we selected life verses. Just a scripture to literally help us get through life. We each wrote out our verse on a cute heart shaped sparkly chalkboard, and we were challenged to hang it some where we would see it daily. (We were also challenged to memorize our verse - I loss that challenge to myself because I didn't try, but I do keep it out where I can see it!)
I don't remember what I googled to find my verse, but the following scripture came up and stood out for me.
"So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up." - Galatians 6:9 NLT
This verse has put me back on track when I start to feel overwhelmed or feel like giving up. I encourage you to find a life verse or quote that helps you get motivated again. This is especially helpful for those days when you cannot see what the end is going to look like, but you need to keep going anyway. Whatever goals you have, just know that you are closer than you think you are to receiving your blessing! You have come this far, so don't give up now.
